Stephen Lartey Tekpetey, a Ph. D Candidate from Ghana’s Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has completed the cooperative research programme at ICBR Key Open Laboratory supported by our centre’s Open Fund.
During his two-month stay in China, he carried out detailed studies on the ultra-microstructure and chemical components of the Ghanaian bamboo species by taking advantage of ICBR Key Lab’s equipment and instruments, with a view to addressing the problem of underutilization of bamboo resources in his country and other African countries as well. Through this Open Fund Research Programme, he not only obtained the valuable research data for future use, but also broadened his knowledge of bamboo and rattan’s potential in diversified utilization and industry development during his field trip to Mount Wuyi for the 5th China Bamboo Cultural Festival and to Yong’an in Fujian province.
