According to the Notice issued online on 25 November 2005, Ministry of Commerce of People's Republic of China is to hold the "International Workshop on Sustainable Management of the Bamboo Sector in Developing Countries", 14-28 December, 2005. It is organized by International Center for Bamboo and Rattan (ICBR), co-organized by International Network for Bamboo and Rattan (INBAR), which is based in Beijing. All assisted countries are welcome to participate in this workshop.

This Workshop will introduce China's existing status and achievements in sustainable development of the bamboo sector and relative policies since the implementation of reform and opening up policy in China. It also provides a platform for participants to exchange knowledge, skills and experiences.

Please kindly note that all applicants should contact the Economic and Commercial Section of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in your country for the formal registration of the Workshop before 25 November 2005. And the approval of participation will be granted by the Economic and Commercial Section of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China. Because the number of participants is limited to 30, the organizing committee of this Workshop will select participants on primarily "first come" basis.

International travel cost to and from Beijing will be covered by the Economic and Commercial Section of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in your country, participants have to contact the Embassy in advance; local cost will be covered by ICBR.
