With its training facilities, geographic advantages as well as experience and resources in foreign-aid trainings, the Base will serve the sustainable development of bamboo and rattan worldwide and the overall national development and diplomatic strategies, and strive to meet region-specific and industry-specific development needs.

DG JIANG Zehui delivered a keynote speech, in which she noted how the Chinese government highly values the development of bamboo and rattan. She stressed that foreign aid is high on the agenda of the Chinese government, which was why this Training Base was established in response to heightened needs of forestry-related capacity building for developing countries. She also expressed her hope that the cooperation between ICBR and CBRC on this Base will create more opportunities for the two sides to work closely on forestry foreign-aid trainings, in order to improve training quality, serve China’s diplomatic strategies, and enhance China’s voice and influence in international forestry cooperation and exchanges.
