Dr. Liu Xianmiao, professor, received his doctoral degree from the Chinese Academy of Forestry in 2008. He visited the Southern Research Station, USDA and conducted research on bamboo-wood composites in 2014. He currently serves as Deputy Director of the Department of Industrial Development, Secretary General of the National Technical Committee on Bamboo and Rattan Standardization, and registered expert on three working groups of ISO Technical Committee on Bamboo and Rattan (ISO/TC 296). He won an ISO excellence award for his work on international standardization, the first in the field of forestry and grassland in China.

Dr. Liu has been engaged in research on bamboo-wood composites and their standardization. He has presided over or participated in the projects of the Key R&D Program of the 12th and 13th Five-Year Plans, special research projects of the forestry industry, the 948 Program of the State Forestry Administration, etc. He has published more than 40 papers, over 20 of which are SCI/EI papers, in core journals as the first or corresponding author and obtained 3 national invention patents. In addition, Dr. Liu headed the development and publication of an ISO standard " Vocabulary related to bamboo and bamboo products " and a national standard "Bamboo toothpicks".
