Dr. Yang Shumin, professor, received her doctoral degree in agricultural sciences from the United Graduate School of Agricultural Sciences, Tottori University, Japan in 2003. Having previously served as the Deputy Secretary General of the Bamboo and Rattan Resources Utilization Branch of Chinese Society of Forestry, she is now a member of this branch and the Biomass Materials Science Branch and a member of the National Technical Committee on Wood Standardization (SAC/TC 41).
Dr. Yang is mainly engaged in the research of the structure, properties and CT non-destructive testing of bamboo and rattan and other biomass materials, with a focus on the cell wall properties of bamboo and rattan materials. In recent years, she has participated in or presided over more than 10 sub-projects under the National Science and Technology Support Program, National Natural Science Foundation of China and special research projects of the forestry industry. She has published more than 30 papers in major academic journals, obtained 2 patents, and co-edited 4 monographs in English and Chinese. Dr. Yang is the recipient of 2 Liang Xi Forestry Science and Technology Awards and a Mao Yisheng Wood Science and Technology Award.
