On October 15th , 2019, the Institute of Advanced Materials for Bamboo and Rattan of ICBR held a special academic session on "Application of Wood Products in Construction ". The session invited Professor Gong Meng from the University of New Brunswick, Canada, for an in-depth exchange on the application of wood in construction. The session was chaired by Dr. FEI Benhua, Executive Deputy Director of ICBR and chief scientist of the institute and joined by over 20 researchers and postgraduate students.

Professor Gong Meng’s report gave a detailed introduction to the construction methods of wood structure buildings, main wood products, the history and application of wood products, and the research needs of wood structures. After the session, Professor Gong Meng and participating experts and students conducted in-depth discussions on the topic and visited the bamboo and rattan exhibition hall of ICBR. This event provides an invaluable opportunity for the institute's scientific researchers and graduate students to understand the use of wood products in architecture and life and helps guide ICBR’s in-depth study of bamboo structure.
