Based on the agreement between ICBR and the Faculty of Forestry of the University of British Columbia (UBC), Canada, China-Canada Joint Laboratory for Bamboo & Rattan Science & Technology was officially established in June 2020. Drawing on the respective strengths of ICBR and UBC Faculty of Forestry, this collaborative platform works on the interdisciplinary, cross-regional research in the materials science of bamboo, rattan and wood and the sustainable management of bamboo and rattan resources, with an aim to advance the research and development of bamboo and rattan and promote the role of bamboo and rattan in global sustainable development and climate change mitigation and adaptation.
