From September 15 to 16, 2026, the International Conference on Forest Governance under Global Change was successfully held in Beijing. The conference was jointly organized by the International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO), the Chinese Academy of Forestry (CAF), the International Centre for Bamboo and Rattan (ICBR), and other institutions, under the theme of “Innovation of Science, Technology and Policy.”

Chen Ruiguo, Deputy Director of ICBR, and Wang Gang, Director of ICBR’s Sanya Research Base, led the ICBR delegation to the conference.

At the round-table meeting of IUFRO member organizations in China, Chen Ruiguo noted that coordination and collaboration among Chinese member organizations should be further strengthened to build greater synergy. He also called for the development of a series of IUFRO activities in China and emphasized that greater attention should be given to the cultivation of young scientists as an important foundation for long-term cooperation.

During the high-level dialogue, Wang Gang offered constructive views on how research institutions, international organizations, and government authorities can effectively bridge the gap between science and policy, as well as on how to address the challenges arising from the fragmentation of global forest governance.

During the conference, the parallel session entitled “Biomass Restructuring and Germplasm Innovation for Bamboo Forest under Global Change,” hosted by ICBR, was also successfully held.
