
Luan Junwei professor and doctoral supervisor, He currently serves as Deputy Director of the Institute of Tropical Bamboo, Rattan and Flowers at the International Centre for Bamboo and Rattan (ICBR) Sanya Research Base, as well as Station Director of the Hainan Sanya Bamboo and Rattan Associated Forest Ecosystem Positioning Research Station and Technical Lead of the ICBR Bamboo Forest Ecological Station. In 2016, he was selected as a leading talent under the Overseas High‑Level Experts Program of the former State Forestry Administration.
His research focuses on biodiversity and ecosystem functioning, plant-soil feedback mechanisms, the role of mycorrhizal fungi in soil carbon and nitrogen cycling, and forestry-based carbon sequestration and climate change mitigation. He has led over 10 national research projects, including grants from the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the National Key R&D Program. He has published more than 70 papers in journals such as PNAS, Journal of Ecology, and Soil Biology & Biochemistry; holds three authorized patents; contributed to three academic monographs; and participated in formulating three industry standards.
He also contributes extensively to the academic community as Deputy Coordinator of IUFRO Division 8, Council Member of the Ecological Society of China, Standing Committee Member of the Forest Ecology Branch of the Chinese Society of Forestry, and Editorial Board Member for Forest Ecosystems, Journal of Forestry Research, and CABI Agriculture and Bioscience, in addition to serving as a Guest Editor for Soil Biology & Biochemistry.
