Dr. Qin Daochun, professor, received his doctoral degree in wood science and technology from the Chinese Academy of Forestry in 2004. In the same year, he visited the Southern Research Station, USDA and conducted research on the preservation of bamboo and wood.
Dr. Qin has been long engaged in the preservation of bamboo and wood and has carried out research on anti-corrosion, anti-mildew, anti-insect and flame retardant technology of bamboo and its composite materials. He has presided over 1 sub-project under the National Science and Technology Support Program and 2 provincial/ministerial sub-projects and participated in more than 10 national, provincial, and international cooperation projects. Over the years, Dr. Qin has produced 2 appraised results and 3 recognized results, developed 3 national or industry standards, obtained 3 invention patents, published over 30 papers as the first or corresponding author, co-edited 1 monograph, and supervised 10 postgraduates. In addition, he has won one first prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, one first, second and third prize of Liang Xi Forestry Science and Technology Award, and one second prize of Hunan Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award.
