Dr. Zhao Hansheng is a professor and master supervisor at the International Centre for Bamboo and Rattan (ICBR). His research interests include the molecular basis and genetic regulation of bamboo genetic features and other core issues in forest genetics. He is well-versed in genome assembly, annotation, and data analysis of most omics datasets (mRNA-seq, ncRNA-seq, ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq). Moreover, the research team Dr. Zhao is in has developed several databases based on bamboo omics data. He has accumulated rich experience and expertise in related fields and published more than 60 papers, including articles in Nature Plants, Nature Communications and GigaScience.
His main work include:
1. Moso bamboo genome and resequencing research: moso bamboo genome was first published in 2013 and is continuously maintained (GigaScience, 2018); moso bamboo resequencing research was carried out (Nature Communications, 2021).
2. Epigenetics research of moso bamboo: constructed an experimental and analytical platform for epigenomic histone and chromatin accessibility and performed the analysis of moso bamboo histone modifications (Computational and Structural Biotechnology Journal 2021).
3. Synthesis and regulation of lignin in moso bamboo: systematic identification of related genes, miRNAs, lncRNAs, and transcription factors in the lignin biosynthesis pathway in bamboo (GigaScience 2018; BMC Genomics 2021).
