Dr. Liu Huanrong a professor at the International Centre for Bamboo and Rattan (ICBR). Her research interests include advanced manufacturing technologies and innovation utilization of bamboo-based materials, such as bamboo-based engineering materials, flattened bamboo, and bamboo/wood composite; bamboo grading and bamboo graded structure-activity relationship (SAP).

Dr. Liu received her Ph.D. in Ecology from the Chinese Academy of Forestry (CAF) in 2010. Subsequently she worked at ICBR. During her career, Dr. Liu has received multiple academic grants from the National Key Scientific Research Projects and National Natural Science Foundation of China, etc. She has won 1 first prize and 1 second prize of Chinese society of forestry science and technology progress awards; published over 20 journal papers on Holzforschung, Construction and building materials, European Journal of wood and wood products; and is serving on the editorial board of Wood and Fibre Science and Journal of Forestry Engineering.
