On July 22nd to 24th, 2019, Li Xiaohua, Deputy Secretary of ICBR’s CPC Committee, led a delegation to the Symposium on Forest Cooperation in Asia-Pacific Region held at Wangyedian Experimental Forestry Station, Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia, China. This Symposium was co-sponsored by China’s National Forestry and Grassland Administration (NFGA), APFNet, ITTO and FAO-RAP and participated by over 200 senior officials, representatives, experts and scholars from 16 members of APFNet and related forestry departments.

 

The ICBR delegation attended the opening ceremony and three thematic side events, paid visits to the multifunctional forest experience center of APFNet and joined field trips to Wangyedian Experimental Forestry Station to study the development of forestry in Chifeng City, in particular the plantation of high-yield, fast-growth trees, introduced tree species, trees for ecological conservation and trees for poverty alleviation. The delegation had discussions with other participants to the Symposium on the current collaborations, past experience and future development of forest restoration and sustainable management in the Asian-Pacific region.
