Dr. Wang Hankun is a professor at the International Centre for Bamboo and Rattan (ICBR) and serves as the Executive Deputy Director of the Key Laboratory of National Forestry and Grassland Administration (NFGA)/Beijing for Bamboo & Rattan Science and Technology. His research focuses on the relationship between the structure and properties of bamboo, involving the construction of the intelligent analysis technology of bamboo structure, the macroscopic mechanical properties and influencing factors of bamboo, the application of the mechanical characterization technology of bamboo cell wall, the difference analysis of bamboo fibers and parenchyma cells.

During his career, Dr. Wang has won 1 second prize of China’s National Science and Technology Progress Award; published over 40 journal papers on Composites Science and Technology, Industrial Crops and Products, Holzforschung, etc; and authorized 4 national invention patents. He is also serving as a Standing Committee Member of the International Association of Wood Anatomists (IAWA) and an Expert Member of the National Wood and Bamboo Industry Technology Innovation Strategic Alliance.
